Today we made this fun little popsicle stick puppet craft. A brontosaurus (or long neck, as L-Bug and I have been calling them) and a tree with lots of green leaves! L-Bug colored the dino and gave him lots of "spots", then she helped me rip pieces from a green sheet and glue it down to make a tree. Oh how she started laughing when I made the dino dance and sing as he ate leaves from his tree! After our craft we played a few games with some different colored hanging leaves. L-Bug started the first game all on her own when she climbed up on the trampoline and started smelling the leaves and then pretending to eat them like the brontosaurus! I turned it into more of a learning game when I would tell her which color to eat. She didn't get it right all of the time, but she sure knows her green and purple!! Next I had her lay down on her back and play one of the games from the Little Goose teachers book: Kick the leaf! She laid down and then kicked the leaf color that I called out. Then we did a "Simon says" type were I would say kick repeatedly at different speeds (I'd go REALLY slow… then fast, slow, fast, fast, etc). She LOVED it and there was lots of giggling involved. I have a small puppet that L-Bug got as a gift and a little "puppet window display". I think sometime this week I'll set it up and do a fun little puppet show! I can't wait to see if each month comes with these little puppet projects so L-Bug can have a small collection of puppets that she has made, then we can do fun puppet shows for daddy! On a side note, today she was VERY into her dino hats and masks! She was sitting there putting one hat on and then putting the other on me. Then she would switch them! She'd climb up in my lap and kept telling me "Mommy, dino RAWR!" Then I had to sing her a little song from the Little Goose book. I'd hold Lily like a baby and rocker her back and forth singing "I have a baby dinosaur her name is Lily-saurus, I have a baby dinosaur her name is Lily-saurus." Then at the end Lily would jump up and RAWR! We did this about 8 times before she finally got board of switching our hats and singing! It was great cuddle time for me :D

This is one of the activity ideas that came in the Little Goose teacher book! You make your own brontosaurs' (or long necks as Lily and I have been calling them) with paper tubes and construction paper. I used blue and yellow because those are the colors of pom-poms I have on hand. Then you "feed" the dinos! Lily LOVED it… she said "Dinos hungry. Num, num, nummy!" As she put the pom-poms at the dinos mouth and then dropped it in the tube! To help her learn her colors we talked about the dino colors and the pom-pom colors, then I would say "Ok, pick a pom-pom! Oh that's a blue one, the blue dino is hungry! Feed it to the blue dino". Then Lily would feed the dino. After about two or three times of helping her, she got it right 8/10 times on her own! She has come back to this game three or four times already this week. Saying "Mommy dino hungry!" As she runs over and sits down to play. :)
