Well I've been working on this for a LONG time! We've turned the basement into L-Bug's play/school room! With the help of my Mother Goose Time set up ideas I think I've to it all set up the way I want. Please, please, please don't judge on the horrible photo quality… I still need a new lens for my camera! Once I get it I'll probably redo these pics... We've got a circle time area. Here we've got our counting garden, calendar and weather bin, ABC flip strip and the color birdhouse. I also put our checked out library books here so I can keep a good eye on them! I set up the "gym" or gross motor area on a huge mat area. I love the trampoline and ball pit :) We've also got our Mother Goose Time map and the poster of this month here! Over on the shelves I've got all of her manipulative items: puzzles, board books, shape sorter etc. I've also got her giant foam blocks and block bin set up here! I brought in a water table and that is where we do most of our sensory projects or projects that are really messy like the Mother Goose Time "making dirt" activity! I think L-Bug's favorite area in the basement is her "ART Studio". She LOVES painting, drawing, coloring… basically ANYTHING like that :) We were so blessed to find these cars/carts being thrown out and brought them home and cleaned them up. They are great for gross motor activities. The one area that I know needs some work is the music area… I definitely need to get her some more music toys! But for right now she loves using her little tambourine when I play the Mother Goose Time music and we dance and sing! Finally I have a small table set up with a tray on top and this is where we do some of the science projects or my favorite little "Tray Play" activities that comes in the Little Goose supplement. In the picture is the activity where your little one sorts pom poms into the dino's based on color! They say to use chunky toy tweezers, but L-Bug is still a little young for that (plus I don't have any!). Upstairs I have L-Bug's "Dramatic Play" area set up where her kitchen, register and shopping cart are. We also have a little reading nook upstairs for her (not pictured). L-Bug LOVES going down into her school room to play and learn! With an area dedicated to learning I feel like we focus more. When we try to do Tray Play or other activities in our living room or dining room I get distracted and Lily usually doesn't focus more than 15 minutes. I feel so blessed that we have the room for this amazing play room! I'm hoping in our next move we'll be able to find somewhere with enough space to have a similar set up, especially since I REALLY want to have my own childcare group once we're stateside!
