This month Mother Goose Time accidentally shipped me an extra month's worth of curriculum! So I chatted with the my Blog coordinator and she said because shipping it back would be pricey I can do a local blog giveaway instead! So I'm going to share with you all of the awesome materials that come in the curriculum kit and do a drawing Sunday evening for one lucky winner :) To be entered please head over to https://www.facebook.com/KiddieKornerKare/?fref=ts and hit like! Then comment below with what you like the most about the curriculum. The kit contains enough materials for six kids to paricpate! For those who are new to the way the Mother Goose Time curriculum is set up let me give you a quick run down! The entire month comes packaged in a giant box. Each month we receieve a different thematic study. Under that theme each week is narrowed down into it's own category. Finally each day has a specific topic related to the week's category! One of my favorite things about the curriculum is how easy everything is to use. Each day is seperated into it's own bag. To prep all you need to do is open the bag, review the teachers guide and gather any of the additional suggested items listed in the guide. Sometimes there is some items that need to be pre-cut, or prepped, but it never takes me more than a few hours to prepare the ENTIRE month :) It's super simple to follow. Our December theme is Winter in the Woods! The first bags to grab and check out are the Teacher Tool Bag, the Circle Time Bag and for December the Santa's Workshop Bag. These bags contain the Teachers Guide, Planning Journal, Calendar, etc. Here is all the goodies hiding inside the Teacher's Tool bag and the Circle Time bag. Each month we focus on a new set of letters, numbers, a shape and a character trait. So you'll see the pieces for those below. The kit also comes with a custom CD full of fun kids music based on the theme. There are also two manipulatives in the kit (counting bears-left and stacking blocks-right). These toys are used throughout the month in the different activities. And again in the middle you see some hands on letter cookie cutters and a shape stamp! So fun :) So many awesome materials and activites come in the curriculum. Here is a snap chot of the different art projects for the whole month. Another fun thing to mention is the Santa's Workshop included in this months box! It includes invitations, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas Story with story telling pieces, a Snack idea, Santa Spoon Puppets, Santa's Beard Game and a Reindeer Training Game. Lots of fun to do with your little's as a group OR to use during an open house and invite the parents to participate. Winning the curriculum will not only mean that you receive the box of curriculum but a code to get access to the website for the month where you can download any additional resources for December that you would like!

I know, I know... I've been majorly bragging on Mother Goose Time curriculum these past few posts. BUT I am just so excited with the 2016/17 enhancements and additions! I had to share this awesome new Assessment System that Mother Goose Time has launched for this year. Here are mine! It took me about 15 minutes to put all eight together :) Everything (except the binders and the sheet protectors) came in the Mother Goose Time curriculum! Here is a micro-training with the info on how to set up and use the assessment system!
Seriously, September is one of my favorite months of the year! It's the start of my favorite season: FALL. It's when Starbucks brings back PSL {Pumpkin Spice Latte}. It's when the trees finally start to change colors (well if you have trees that is)! It's the start of school... and it's when Mother Goose Time sends us our VERY FIRST curriculum box for the school year :) Every year our September boxes come with a "Getting Started" bag with a new room set up. Usually I take the pieces as additions to much of what I already have because I'm a curriculum hoarder... BUT it's nice for when my display has gotten trashed and needs a face lift. AND we also get the low-down on what is NEW for this year. Well I'm gonna share all the AMAZING new materials your kiddos are going to be using this year! First! My absolute favorite addition so far, our new stamp collections! Oi-vey I am in love with these little sets. Each month we will get a new shape stamp (so by the end of the year we will have a full set of 12) and we also get an assortment of stamps to go with our thematic study. This month is all about "My Family and Me" so we got these adorable mom, dad, bother, sister and baby stamps! To stinking cute. The kids went stamp crazy :) The size is perfect because the little hands are able to grip them easily and the pictures on the top helped them quickly identify what they were looking for. The stamps are great because we will be able to use them in lots of ways, with ink, in play dough, we can try with glue, paint, etc! Experimenting with the many uses of these new tools will be fun. Each month we learn a new set of letters. Last school year we received letter flags and miniature letter cards. I love my letter flags and they all hang on my ABC tree :) These awesome new large alphabet cards are the size of a full sheet of paper. I laminate them to help them stay more durable. We use erasable markers or our fingers to trace the letters. Now, these new set of tools are the ABC cut outs. These pieces are awesome because they are three dimensional and can be used so many different ways. We can use them alone to review the alphabet, we can use them in play dough, paint, etc. I think after we get our full set I may have to make ABC cookies with them :P I am really excited about this change! Every month last year we received a new color paint brush, while these are cute I learned very quickly that it was hard to make them durable because you had to attach the color piece to the stick. I am so excited that Mother Goose Time brought back our color wands! I remember these from a few years ago and the kiddos LOVE them. To make them last longer I fold the wand in half and then laminate it before attaching the ribbon. I am so glad we are keeping our awesome books! I love my collection of books Mother Goose Time has created. The kids love the pictures AND the stories! The books vary each month to go along with the themes and they also vary in difficulty. This little basket is perfect to keep them stored neatly. One piece I have had the most difficulty with each year was our action and concept cubes. In fact, I rarely used them because they just got trashed before each child had a turn. They were always a battle. I am so excited about the new interchangeable cube! It's a soft giant cube with clear pockets. It makes it easy to change the sides for activities AND for the different games! I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet this month, but I know the kids are going to be excited we get to use our cube! Some really fun new materials that I get to utilize as a teacher revolves primarily around art! The invitation to create prompts a more process-based art experience. Each month there are art supplies and discussion prompts to do while the children work through the activity. Mother Goose Time has also added some really fun make & play cards where the kids get to do DIY projects and then use them in imaginative play. Headbands, instruments, puppets, etc are all a part of the fun :) Every month fun manipulatives have always come included in our kit! This month I am so excited about these fun magnetic ones. I am not sure if this is going to be what we receive every month, but they sure are cute! I have been wanting to add a manipulation board in my infant "safe" area. I was thinking of something similar to my circle time board. Something magnetic that I can mix up the materials weekly! What do you think? Some other fun changes are counting fish instead of the counting tree, little character goslings to teach about character traits and fun shape clouds for our circle time board. Get a little more detail about all the new tools from the Mother Goose Time Blog Post!
I am so excited! I am just a few steps away from finishing all of my certifications and I will be officially open for enrollment as an FCC provider :) Now, I've been a little bad about school time during this long process... My poor daughter has really wanted me to open our curriculum boxes and do some school, but I've been hoarding it! What can I say I am REALLY excited about the themes and I want to start off my preschool class with these fun topics. Haha For those of you Mamma's and Daddy's who are checking out this post to see what kind of curriculum I'll be offering in my care, let me start at the beginning! Just over a year ago I started using a preschool curriculum with my daughter called Mother Goose Time. Over the past year we have worked with the curriculum and WE love it! My daughter loves all the fun she has and I love all the things she learns! It's so cute to see her light up when our "Yellow School Bus Box" get delivered.
While we were in Italy I had toyed with the idea of being and FCC provider, however living off base posed too many complications. However, it was nice to know that the Mother Goose Time company creates it's curriculum with state standards in mind! These resources are key to fulfilling licensing requirements and achieving a five star quality rating through whatever state I live in.
On the lower right you can see the colorful pages, that is my weekly layout in the Planning Journal. The black and white one is another weekly layout, but this one has to do with the daily topics. The page next to "week one" shows a three column graph, I love this section because it gives me space to track my students thoughts, ideas and questions! The columns say: "We Know", "We Wonder", and "We Learned". Each morning when I ask that Daily Topic Question I can record the answers right here and write down some of their questions as well! Then at the end of the week we can do a little review to see what we have learned about each topic (that's my favorite part!). The images to the left show a few of our Circle Time tools. Each month we have a set of basic concepts that we learn about: letters, numbers, a shape, a color, a "heartitude" (as a I call our Friendly Bees) and new Global Friends for geography! We also get new music and fun songs that go along with our theme study and a colorful poster for the kids to explore. All of these cool pieces and concepts are introduced during circle time and then I incorporate them into my room so the kids continue to see them throughout the month and the rest of the year :) You can see how I incorporate all of these pieces after circle time in my post about Our School Room Set Up! One of my other favorite things about using Mother Goose Time curriculum is that every month new Manipulatives (fancy word for learning toys) comes! This month we to a basket of adorable fruits for counting and playing with. And a Geo-Pattern Board! How many of you had these growing up? It's a double sided peg board where children use rubber bands to make patterns <3 It really works their fine motor skills. The other images below are just a few more great examples of what activities your child will get to make each month to aide their learning experience! I know that is a LOT of information, but at leas now you know if you decide to enroll your children in my pre-school program they will be getting taught from a wonderful curriculum! A few other great things to mention are:
#1) Each month you will get a family take-home newsletter that talks about what your child/children are learning each month so you can talk to them about it and maybe even incorporate some of the ideas into your family activities to continue more learning opportunities at home! #2) I will be doing observations and tracking your child's progress from day one of their enrollment! I will be creating a portfolio box where I will keep work samples, storing my notes and doing quarterly reviews on the skills your little one(s) is/are learning! I will also provide (and highly encourage) quarterly meetings, just like parent teacher conferences, where we can review your child's portfolio work and see the progress they are making! This gives us time to talk about learning strengths and ares that may need a little extra support. #3) I am planning an Open House! I want to invite you, your child/children, your spouse and any friends/family you would like to bring along :) The idea of the open house is to welcome you to come meet me, see my child care room set up & let your kiddos loose to play, take a look at the curriculum and ask any questions that you may have! If you would like to join us please send a message to me via e-mail: [email protected] or via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KiddieKornerKare/?fref=ts Thanks for taking the time to read all about my program! Feel free to post any comments below :D Well, it is FINALLY happening! I am finished with my training and just about done with setting up our new day care / pre-school room. This has been such an exciting adventure so far! I have learned so much and I cannot wait to start taking on some wonderful little learners. I think one of the things I am so thankful for is all of the wonderful resources I get from Mother Goose Time with our monthly subscription! Not only do I still get to utilize the ease of the curriculum set up, but there are tons of great resources on the website to help facilitators set up there environment and useful tools advertise my set up, AND to provide parents with GREAT information about the program they'll be enrolling their child in. Here are a few of my favorites! Bulletin Board Ideas- I have NEVER had to set up my own bulletin board. So it was nice that Mother Goose Time has some attractive posters, information fliers and even an activity idea for the kids so that I can create a full and informative bulletin board. Cute mini posters like these bring some color and theme into my bulletin board. I'm the type of person that likes things to flow together. The monthly theme web is perfect to hang up because it helps to remind parents what were are learning about so that they can incorporate into their home lives by asking questions about the lessons and activities we've been working on and maybe planning a few of their own to do at home. The schedule is an awesome flyer to have hanging for parents to see what our daily plan is AND it will be very helpful to me in the beginning to get a rhythm going! And lastly there is a great Bulletin Board Idea to do with the kids and incorporate their work into the bulletin board that their parents see everyday at drop off and pick up! Accreditations- Another great tool that I found on the MGT website is a list of programs and state alignments! Have this information helps me to show parents that the curriculum I'll be using meets and in many cases exceeded the standards of many programs and states! I plan to add the CA, Head Start, NAEYC and Common Core Alignment information into the back of my parent info binder that I'll be sharing with parents during interviews and orientations. Portfolio's and Progress Tracking- While I do have the large Developmental Continuum Poster that came in our annual set up box, it was nice to find this simpler version on the website to show a quick and simple break down of the specific areas and skills we focus on. To go along with the skills we focus on I love the awesome tips that are provided on how to assess the children's learning AND the ideas for creating children portfolios to store their work as you go along tracking their progress throughout the year. This gives me as the teacher a great view of what is working for each child and for the parents to visually see their child's growth! Another great tool I stumbled upon are the Progress Monitoring Reports that I can put into each child's profile to help me keep the theme running smoothly throughout all of my documents and to make the tracking that much simpler! There were also great Daily Notes Pads that can be purchased to give parents an overall idea of what happened that day while their child was in care. All of those amazing things help me to create a Child Care Environment that promotes unity throughout my theme AND allows the parents to easily follow along with our monthly lesson themes and be a part of tracking their child's development. Member Resources/Downloadable Goodies- There are an extensive library of downloadable monthly resources that I can use to enhance different aspects of my lessons! I think my favorite is the Book List! This allows me to add stories from the library that correlate with our lessons and help to expand on different ideas! Marketing Toolkit- Finally the last thing I came across recently was this wonderful Marketing Toolkit that was recently put together! It is a handful of items to be utilized on social media and even in a home office where parents go to find information about the available child care/pre-school's to enroll their children in. It's awesome that they provide this because as I've said I like unity! I could have easily created my own little handout and picture, but these provide me with the theme too :) All of these extra nuggets have been here, but until I was ready to move from homeschool mommy to a child care facilitator I never went looking! I'm VERY excited that Mother Goose Time has thought to provide so many useful tools for me to enhance the program I will be offering :)
Daily Routines are important in our family because it gives us a sense of normalcy! AND as L-Bug grows and gains new skills she is able to do more and more things on her own. For example our typical morning starts with waking up, having breakfast, doing our Bible studies, getting dressed and making our beds... in that order! Months ago I did all of those steps FOR L-Bug, but now L-Bug has grown and learned new skills! After we wake up we go downstairs and L-Bug sits at the table looking at the pictures in her Bible while I get breakfast ready. After she eats L-Bug does the rest of the morning routine with minor help! She puts her dishes in the sink then she goes up stairs and helps choose her outfit for the day. She gets undressed and puts her dirty clothes in the hamper and gets dressed nearly on her own! Then she makes her bed and brushes her teach.
So what is my point in telling you this? A routine gives L-Bug the opportunity to repeat the same steps over and over each day and learn how to do them on her own! The same goes for our school room routine!
We don't always do school at the same time every day, but each week we have a general routine. Our school time routine is typically the same every day though. I have been using a "work box system" for several months now and it has really made our school day run smoothly AND it has given L-Bug a little more structure so she knows how many more lessons we have before our school time is over. She get's to help me move from one lesson to the next by getting out the next work box which I have pre-prepped with just about everything we need for the lesson!
Once our intro song is done and L-Bug has found come and sit down for Circle Time I like to play a little game to help get any wiggles out so she can focus. We use action cubes to act like animals, move in certain ways or find different items in the room. Once we've done a few different turns and L-Bug has gotten a chance to move around we jump into Circle Time!
I love how Mother Goose Time gives us ideas for our opening Circle Time routine, it makes it easier for me to jump into it on days I haven't had much time to prep and it gives me a starting place for when I want to do some modifications.
We start our school day with Circle Time. I turn on the Mother Goose Time Greeting song and L-Bug knows its time to clean up whatever she's doing as quickly as she can before the song ends. Then she comes over to our circle time board and has a seat! We start with calendar and there are a few songs we sing. If it is the first or last week of the month we sing our months song too, but otherwise it's our days of the week song. We find our day of the week cloud and put it up on our circle time board and then we put up our calendar day. Next we move on to weather and we've recently welcomed a new friend, Kyle the weather man, to help us with this task! Kyle and L-Bug look out of the window and talk about what they see and sometimes when the window is open what they feel. Then L-Bug goes through the weather symbols and gives Kyle his velcro ones and puts the other ones on the calendar board. Then she take the stick of the day and puts it in the weather cup that coordinates!
Next comes the Daily Topic Poster! L-Bug loves pulling out the photo poster for the day and grabbing her magnifying glass to explore it. She tells me all the things she sees and asks me questions. At the bottom of each poster is a question for me to ask L-Bug and talk about, which always leads right into our lessons for the day!
From there we either move into our lessons and activities OR we do a concept intro and review, it just depends on what the lessons are and whether they include the concept in one way or another.
All of the lessons I have planned for the day are set up in the work boxes in the order we will do them in. In the very last box is typically a game or a coloring activity for L-Bug as well as a piece of candy! This gives her something to look forward to and work towards throughout her other lessons. Knowing that that last box has a special prize in it makes her work that much harder and generally keeps her focused! I also have a playlist on my computer of instrumental tracks from our collection of Mother Goose Time CDs. It has a few hours of playtime on it so I play that music quietly in the background. Once she finished her game or coloring activity I end with our Closing Time on our circle time carpet. I ask a simple question to kind of review what we have learned that day and we finish with a song!
We typically have 3 hours of school time a day in our class room. L-Bug takes short breaks in between each lesson as I get the old lesson cleaned up and put away. She either grabs a book in her reading corner, a coloring page at her art desk or sometimes plays with her manipulative or blocks in the counting station.
If there are any lessons that involve snack or outdoor play those are saved for after nap time and are our afternoon activity. L-Bug typically doesn't think of them as school because I don't think she really knows that I'm doing a lesson with her :) One thing I like about having a routine is now that I have started working at our chapel nursery and L-Bug's daddy does school some days with her L-Bug is able to help him through the school day because she knows the routine and the order of things! I set up the work boxes for him just as I do for myself and L-Bug knows to go from top to bottom!
Today we had a BLAST doing our school lessons! L-Bug has been very excited to learn about TRANSPORTATION (our big word this month) and every day is a new excitement. Today we talked about road signs and maps and mommy had a little surprise for L-Bug (I'll share more later).
L-Bug knew all about stop lights and was excited to maker her own so we could play a game of Red light, Green light! She liked being the one to get to run with mommy controlling the light.
After she was done playing she practiced writing her name in her Little Journal and colored to cover. She asked me to draw her a boat and a plane because those are "the kinds of things she likes to ride on for traveling to see fiends". Today the giggle levels were high!
After that we played another game because she was just so excited and wiggly. This game was perfect for getting those wiggles out. I'm so happy that Mother Goose Time has consistently been sending these fun "action cubes"! We use them in the games and then often times I add them to my pile from the previous months and when L-Bug is in need of a wiggle break we pull out an action cube and we play a made-up game until she's gotten some energy out! In this game you can see we set up "cones" and I told L-Bug that when there is construction they put out big orange cones to warn the drivers to be careful. Then we played with our action cube and L-Bug had to use caution not to run over our cones! You can see a few of them just didn't make it :P
When I pulled out the construction sign I wanted to video so I could see how much L-Bug was really paying attention during the game while I was talking about the orange meaning caution and danger!
After we finished up our signs for the day I introduced some new friends to L-Bug! I told her she got a package in the mail and I let her open it up :)
Her package came from Max and Mia our newest friends at Little Passports.
With this month being all about "ON THE GO" I decided we were going to try out Little Passports to enhance our geography lessons. Here is what came in our welcome kit!
There was a cute little post card and a note from Max and Mia telling L-Bug hi and that they couldn't wait to share their adventures with her. L-Bug LOVED the post card and knew exactly what it was (she sends three every month to friends and family all over the world). We talked about the plane on the post card and decided Max and Mia must be at the airport (perfect discussion for our lesson this month). I asked L-Bug where she thought they were going on their adventure and she said "Hmmm, maybe Washington! My dad was in Washington!" So true, I love this kids memory! Check out this video from last week when we talked about Daddy gone for work in Washington.
I told L-Bug maybe Max and Mia were going on an adventure in a different country! Then we pulled out this map that came in our suitcase from Little Passports :) We talked about some of the adventures we had and about some of the places her family and friends have gone. Then L-Bug told me about some of the places she wanted to go, like Australia because "that one is pretty and pink" :)
After we were done talking about the map we did the first page in our Little Passport Journal that came in the kit. L-Bug was very excited to look at the rest of the pages which were all filled with great activities and fun challenges like coloring by number and more! I told her we will work on more of the pages throughout the month. We took out the stickers that came in the suitcase and L-Bug decorated it. She was very happy with the end result and told me she couldn't wait for another one!
I think this Little Passports kit is going to be a great addition to our curriculum and I just know I can incorporate it perfectly with our Mother Goose Time curriculum! Each Month Mother Goose Time sends us three new global friends, I just have to come up with a great story line about how Max and Mia meet those new friends during their adventures!
Recently I read a negative post about the curriculum we use for our Pre-School lessons.... the gist of the post said that the Mother Goose Time curriculum is just a bunch of fluff with no real educational value. I was actually taken aback that someone who has ever used or seen this curriculum in action could come to that conclusion! I wish I had been able to save the post or at least remember where I found it because after reading it the first thing that came to mind was one of my favorite movies and a certain educator who didn't like "fluff" in her school..... Yup dear Miss Trunchbull from the classic movie Matilda! :) This pic was perfect for getting my point across because as you see in the "school rules" listed on the wall behind Trunchbull No Laughing, No Playing and No FUN are all included ;) I couldn't find a clip anywhere but I had originally wanted to use the scene from the movie where the kids are scrambling around the classroom putting away all the fun and pretty and fun things because the Trunchbull is COMING!!! Sorry but my humor got the best of me for a minute.... anyway, moving on! I get it, school isn't all fun and games. But please tell me what pre-schooler or student for that matter is going to enjoy doing their lessons if there is no fun?! I love that Mother Goose Time makes each lesson fun for my daughter to do and quick and easy for me to prep for! Sure, I guess I could create my own curriculum that is similar. I could go to the store and find all of the materials needed to do the lessons and I could even add my own fun... but honestly, I just don't have the time for that! What I get each month is well worth the money each kit costs. I don't have to spend any time trying to determine which store has the best deals for the materials I need. There is no long nights spent cutting, sorting and prepping materials for ONE DAY worth of lessons. I don't have to add an extra hour to my shopping trip because I'm running all over three stores trying to find different tools and supplies for the lessons and I don't have to buy a bag of 300 googely eyes when I only needed four! All of the leg work is done and I can focus on teaching my daughter a love for learning :) I am always blown away by the amount of thought that goes into months theme, the weekly topics and the daily lessons! The quality of the manipulatives, books, music, dance dvds, crafts and so many other projects is beyond anything that I could come up with on my own! But just for the sake of the argument lets say that pretty colors, fun activities and cute little manipulatives aren't needed... Aside from all that here is what I get in my box EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. Mother Goose Time includes a collection of teacher tools inside each thematic kit that will help you plan and facilitate discovery-based projects and activities. We will help you transform your room into a place of wonder and investigation." Mother Goose Time curriculum comes in one big box each month. An entire month of lessons (4 weeks/20 days & many times an additional day or two of Holiday or Seasonal lessons) comes in this beautiful yellow bus box! If you open the Teacher Tool Bag you'll find the foundation under the "fluff". On of my favorite things about Mother Goose Time curriculum is the monthly themes. Thematic Learning with the monthly curriculum themes: Thematic investigations allow children to play, explore and learn about different concepts in their expanding lives. Themes allow children to organize new information and create a growing mental schema. Each theme creatively integrates colors, shapes, numbers and letters of the month. Plus, each month features a different music genre in our exclusive integrated music program." The reason that this is one of my favorite things is because I SEE it in action everyday with my daughter. I love that she remembers things we learned and is able to integrate them into our everyday life. Walking through the grocery store L-Bug tells the lady near us who is putting apples in her cart that her apples came from a tree. Then she lets her know that there are seeds in those apples, and that they grow into new trees if you plant them.... The common response "How old is she?!" But it's a testament to this amazing curriculum is! Here is Novembers Monthly Theme web. You see that our month has a general or umbrella theme for November its "On the Go!". From there our weeks are broken down into a little more specific categories: Down the Road, On Land, Public Transportation and Transportation in the Air and Water. Then if you take a look at each of the weeks you see each day is given a topic that ties into the weeks category. The lessons are then created around the topic for each day. "Ok so the curriculum has cute themes every month, so what?" Ok so some might not find the themes as intriguing or as important to learning as I do. You want to know what your child is going to be learning other than the fact that you can plant a seed and grow an apple tree. Well we will get to the skills in a minute, but on top of learning about things that apply to real everyday life there are "basic concepts" integrated into every month. They are introduced and reviewed several times throughout the moth! The basic concepts include: letters, numbers, shapes, color, pattern, sight words, friendship traits and countries. These are all and more of the basic principles that are taught in preschools around the country. The next thing I wanted to mention is the Developmental Skills Continuum. This is a great tool to find your child's bench mark (where they are at NOW) and to track their learning over a period of time! Our research-based skill continuum clearly explains learning benchmarks for children birth through age eight. Use the Developmental Skills Continuum chart to understand where your child is developmentally in his learning journey of the 33 skills." Each Mother Goose Time activity includes a handful of skills your children will work on as the go through each lesson from beginning to end "to offer children rich multidisciplinary learning opportunities". Each day has 4+ lessons for you to do with your children so that each day includes a good deal of skill sets that will be practiced and your children can grow them! Here is my November chart that shows what skills are used on each day throughout the month. Another great tool provided in the teacher tool bag is the planning guide. I love this page because it helps me glance at what skills are the "primary" skill in each lesson so that when I am doing my observations for L-Bug's portfolio (my way of tracking her learning and growth) I can easily mark which days and lessons to grab my note book for! Mother Goose Time uniquely weaves 33 research-based skills through monthly activities and discovery projects. As children participate in Mother Goose Time, they are naturally exposed to skills which support their on-going social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development. These skills, when combined with a nurturing environment, intentional teaching practices, and meaningful relationships support a child’s school readiness." One other little addition I love that Mother Goose Time does to go above and beyond is just another step of planning! Here is their layout for 20 days worth of Investigation Stations! A great way for your preschooler to work on gross and fine motor skills as well as explore their senses. They give you ideas that tie into the monthly theme and even what area would be best to set it up in. Want to see how Mother Goose Time curriculum lines up with your State standards and Head Start Indicators? Well they have it all ready for you to check out here! Don't just take my word for it, check out all of these other reviews that show there are others just as in love with the curriculum as I am!
Who remembers their ABCs? Who remembers PEMDAS (please, excuse, my dear, aunty, sally)? Who remembers the song with all 50 states in alphabetical order? Who remembers "conjunction junction what's your function"? Yeah those were good times and I bet you smiled a little thinking about at least one of them! One last question for you... who remembers the lesson you learned about all of the different types of clouds, what they are called and how they were formed? Hmmm... maybe I could have done with a little "fluff" on that lesson, no pun intended ;) Now excuse me... I have to go find a very important movie that I can't wait to watch! We got our first box of goodies this month from Citrus Lane! I was blown away by how many fun things came in this box!. It's too good not to share! For $25 all these fun toys were shipped right to our door. L-Bug is going to get a new surprise each week and I know she's going to have a blast exploring all the new toys. Here is our September Box! I think L-Bug's favorite will be the Alphabet Stacking Blocks. Lately she is really into building castles and these are perfect! Melissa & Doug toys are always have the most vibrant colors! I love all the fun animal pictures on the sides too. I think the coolest part about these blocks are that they stack right inside of each other and store inside an easy to carry box! I love this book and it comes with a CD that plays the song too! Even though the entire book isn't really about a mulberry bush it's fun because our Mother Goose Time school theme for October is "In the Orchard"! This puppy slide flute is really silly and fun! You blow in the puppy's mouth and pull his tail in and out to make different wind noise! L-Bug doesn't have many musical toys so this is a nice addition :) This mini first aide kit is a nice size and it will fit right inside of my make up bag in my purse! It has some cremes and quite a few different styles of band aides! The only thing I think it needs are a few alcohol wipes and maybe some neosporin. I will add those myself and it will be perfect! I do really like the cute tin everything came in though1 I LOVE this little Story Blocks game by Melissa & Doug! 8 Little blocks that fit perfectly inside of a wooden frame. Tell the story of who, what, were and when! Roll the blocks, put them in order and then create your own story. L-Bug may be a little too young to completely understand it all, BUT I think she will have fun learning how to play with mommy and daddy! What do you think about everything that came in the box?!
